August 2nd is National Coloring Book Day! At Glass America, we love this day because who doesn’t like to color?! It’s a great way to relax, unwind, and tap into your creative side.
Coloring has some excellent benefits for children. It helps improve fine motor skills and it also trains their brains to focus on a task. This relaxing activity is also great for adults! According to webmd.com, coloring books are a great way to quiet your mind, improve fine motor skills, improve sleep and focus, reduce anxiety, and relieve stress.
Although we’re still in the thick of summer, the first day of school will be here before you know it. As you’re shopping for school supplies, make sure to grab a few coloring books for the youngsters in your life. Whether they’re coloring flowers, superheroes, or even cars, this is a great activity to keep your child happy (and busy) – and a great conversation starter.
If your child is interested in cars or mechanics, coloring books specific to these topics would be perfect for them. Focusing on the designs that they’re coloring will not only be a fun activity, but it’s likely to pique their curiosity about the automotive industry. They may have questions about different types of cars, makes and models, vintage versus hybrid, etc. As a family, you could watch some YouTube videos or even make a day out of it and attend a local car show where they could see a large variety of models up close and even ask questions. Coloring books are a great tool to educate your kids at a young age about a variety of topics.
So, remember to pick up some coloring books as you’re doing your back to school shopping to supplement whatever lessons your child will be learning in school. In the meantime, we’ve compiled some great FREE car coloring pages that you can print out and give to your child . . . we won’t tell if you decide to keep them for yourself.
